Statement of Faith

Statement of Faith

What we believe:

I. The Scriptures

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who Himself is the focus of divine revelation. The Bible -- both the Old and New Covenant Scriptures -- is God's Word to man and the only reliable, safe guide to faith and conduct.
(Num. 12:6-8; Isa. 8:20; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 1:1-2; 4:12; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:19-21)

II. God the Father

There is one and only living God -- the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – Creator of heaven and earth.  He is all powerful and all knowing.  His perfect knowledge transcends time and places.  He has had manifold manifestations throughout history.  God the Father is said to be the God-head.
(Gen. 1:1; Isa. 42:5)

III. Jesus Christ, God’s Son

Yeshua (Hebrew for "Jesus") is Israel's promised Messiah and the Redeemer of the entire human race. By His life, death and resurrection, He fulfilled the messianic prophecies of the Old Covenant Scriptures related to Messiah's first coming. The divine Messiah, Yeshua is the fullest revelation of God to man.  He is the very word of God - and God himself - through whom the world was created.
(Isa. 7:14, 9:6-7, 49:6, 53:1-12; Psa. 16:9-11, John 1:1-3, 14)

IV. The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is of the same characteristics and nature as God.  He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.  He calls men to the Savior (Jesus Christ), and effects regeneration as He indwells the heart of every born-again believer.

(John 3:6, 4:24; Isaiah 40:13; 1 Corinthians 2:10-11)

V. Man

We believe in the triune nature of God -- God the Father, God the Son (Yeshua – Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit – as we stated above. God made man in His own image and endowed him with a longing for intimate fellowship with the Creator.
(Gen. 1:26, 2:7; Psa. 41:1-2)

Through the temptation of Satan man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence.  Man's disobedience to God's revealed will caused a separation between man and God.
(Gen. 2:16-17; Isa. 59:1-2)

The only provision God made for reconciling man to Himself is through the atoning work of the Messiah, who died as the sacrifice for our disobedience and rose again, manifesting His victory over sin and death.
(Lev. 17:11; Isa. 53:1-12; 2 Cor. 5:19)

All who repent from sin and accept God's message of salvation in the Messiah are born again of the Spirit of God. Faith in the Messiah as the mediator of the New Covenant makes us true children of God.
(Jer. 31:31-34; Ezek. 36:24-27; John 1:11-13)

Those who are born of the Holy Spirit become members of the universal Church – the people of God, the Body of the Messiah, the Bride of Christ.

(1 Cor. 12:12-13, 27; Eph. 2:14-16, 5:30-32)

Regeneration, or the new birth, is a work of God's grace whereby believers become new creatures in Christ Jesus. It is a change of heart wrought by the Holy Spirit through conviction of sin, to which the sinner responds in repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Repentance and faith are inseparable experiences of grace.

Repentance is a genuine turning from sin toward God. Faith is the acceptance of Jesus Christ and commitment of the entire personality to Him as Lord and Savior.

(2 Corinthians 5:17-20)

VI. The Family

God has created the family for the purpose of populating the earth.  The family that God has created is made of a husband (a man) and a wife (a woman) who become one in marriage for the purpose of enjoyment and procreation, and to serve as parents for the nurturing and the rearing of children.  Both marriage and family are important to God.

(Genesis 1:28,31, 2:24; Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 5:27,28)

VII. The Church

The Church is the assembly of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ (Yeshua hamoshiah).  They are those who have been saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus.  The Great Commission is the Church’s mandate to canvass the neighborhood where they live as well as every corner of the world in order to bring the word of God to the hearing of every person from every nation and to baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

(Ephesians 2:8,9, 5:27; Matthew 28:19)

VIII. Christians and Society

All Christians should be involved fully in human society. Means and methods used for the improvement of society and the establishment of justice and righteousness among men must be rooted in the Word of God, Jesus Christ.  In the spirit of Christ, Christians should oppose racism, every form of greed, selfishness, and vice, and all forms of sexual immorality, including adultery, homosexuality, and pornography. We should work to provide for the orphans, the poor, the abused, the aged, the helpless, and the sick.  Every Christian should seek to bring industry, government, and society as a whole under the sway of the principles of righteousness, truth, and brotherly love. In order to promote these ends Christians should be ready to work with all men of good will in any good cause, always being careful to act in the spirit of love without compromising their loyalty to Christ and His truth.

(Matthew 5:13-16,43-48; 22:36-40; 25:35; Mark 1:29-34; 2:3ff.; 10:21; Luke 4:18-21; 10:27-37; 20:25; John 15:12; 17:15; Romans 12–14; 1Corinthians 5:9-10; 6:1-7; 7:20-24; 10:23-11:1; Galatians 3:26-28; Ephesians 6:5-9; Colossians 3:12-17; 1 Thessalonians 3:12; Philemon; James 1:27; 2:8)
